April Marshaun Harris

Speaker and Author

April Harris is an Author and Speaker.  Her first book was released April 2011--“Give Love, Inspirational Messages for Parents and Children” where she discussed six core values:  Giving, Love, Respect, Faith, Courage and Obedience.

In her free time, she enjoys reading, exercising, listening to music and playing board games with her foster/adoptive son, Demil.  She is a passionate advocate for him and works with NV Pep to ensure he is treated fairly and receives a great education and strongly advocates for children with disabilities. She is currently working on her second book for children entitled, “Give Love and Show Respect.”  It is important to teach our children about “Giving Love” unconditionally so they understand the concept of not expecting anything in return.  It is just as important that they learn how to “Show Respect” to everyone through displaying common courtesies by saying “Yes Ma’am, Yes Sir, Ms, Mr, Please, Thank You and You are Welcome.”  It starts at home with the parents.  They are the role model for their children.

April has been speaking to audiences for over 30 years, touching their hearts with her message and song.  She grew up as a young girl loving to be around her grandparents.  She spent countless hours listening to their words of wisdom.  She has taught the youth in many areas – Substitute Teacher, Vacation Bible School Teacher, Usher Board Mentor, Youth Choir Mentor, Sunday School Teacher, Children’s Church Teacher/Advisor and at community recreation centers.  Bridging the gap between the youth and elderly by forming relationships will encourage youth to respect their elders for their wisdom and knowledge.  This will save our children today because they will learn the value of developing a basic level of respect for everyone they meet.  We all can offer our time to connect these two generations. It will take grandparents, parents, aunts, uncles, friends, church members and community members to make this happen.

She is now fulfilling her purpose in life—to speak to others, touching one heart at a time.  She continues to spread her message and encourage people to join “The Give Love Movement” where we “Give Love” unconditionally not expecting anything in return and “Show Respect” because it is the right thing to do.

Demil loves to spend time with his nana and papa. As a little girl, I enjoyed time with my grandparents, too. We can receive a lot of wisdom from them that will stay with us forever.

Give Love Day 2015.jpg

We gave gently used clothing and shoes, donated gift bags from Station Casinos full of goodies for children and parents and had refreshing juice and snacks.

One young girl wanted to be an author like me, and I told her to aim for the stars. She can be whatever her heart desires.
